Our Rainforest Study – First Grade🌿🦜🦥🌴

In first grade, we learned all about the rainforest! A rainforest is a warm, wet place with lots of trees, animals, and plants. It rains almost every day in the rainforest, which helps everything grow big and green.
We discovered that there are four layers in the rainforest:
  1. Emergent Layer – This is the top! Very tall trees grow here and birds like eagles fly above.
  2. Canopy – This is like a roof made of leaves. Lots of monkeys, birds, and frogs live here.
  3. Understory – It’s dark and shady. Jaguars and snakes can be found here.
  4. Forest Floor – This is the ground. It’s wet and full of bugs and big animals like tapirs.
We also learned about animals that live in the rainforest. Some of our favorites were:
  • Sloths
  • Toucans
  • Tree frogs
  • Jaguars
We talked about how important the rainforest is. It gives us oxygenfood, and homes for animals. We even made art projects and wrote stories about our favorite rainforest creatures!
We also created an interactive museum for students to visit. We loved it, as did all of our visitors!
We had so much fun exploring the rainforest and learning how we can help protect it.
