  • The Gilboa-Conesville Central School District is a small, rural school located in the Northern Catskill Mountains. There are ~300 students in grades PK-12 housed in one building, and approximately 80 employees. A full range of support services is available in the school.

Noted for its scenic beauty and the plentiful hunting and fishing in the region, there are a number of cultural and sporting attractions that attract visitors to the Gilboa area. The Pratt Museum, Pratt Rock, Lansing Manor, New York State Power Authority Visitor Center, and Minekill State Park are all located within the school district. Windham Mountain, Hunter Mountain, Howe Caverns, Iroquois Indian Museum, Old Stone Fort, Olana, and Hanford Mills are all located relatively close by.

The New York State Power Authority Blenheim-Gilboa Power Project is the largest single employer in the district. The school, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (which supervises the Gilboa Dam and Schoharie Reservoir), and various agencies in local, county and state governments provide other full time local employment. Additional full time employment comes from small businesses (e.g., construction, trucking, etc.). Much of the employment is seasonal work in logging, ski and recreational industries. Other members of the community commute to jobs outside the district in Albany, Kingston or Oneonta.
