What is ESSA Title I?
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Title I is a federal program that provides financial assistance to schools with high numbers or percentages of children from low-income families. Our district participates in this program to help ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education.

How Title I Funds Are Used

Parent Rights Under ESSA
As parents in a Title I school district, you have specific rights under federal law. We are committed to keeping you informed and engaged in your child's education.
Your Right to Know About Teacher Qualifications
You have the right to request and receive information about the professional qualifications of your child's classroom teachers and paraprofessionals, including:
- Whether the teacher has met state qualification requirements
- The teacher's college degree(s) and major area(s) of study
- Whether the teacher has any emergency or provisional certification
- The qualifications of any paraprofessionals working with your child
Important Notice
If your child is taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who does not meet state certification requirements, we will notify you in writing.

In accordance with the Federal Every Student Succeeds Act, parents/guardians have the right to request specific information about the professional qualification of their children's classroom teachers. Written requests for information about the qualifications of your child's teacher(s) can be directed to the Elementary or MS/HS Principal, Gilboa-Conesville Central School, 132 Wyckoff Road, Gilboa, NY 12076
