Dear Parents, Faculty and Staff,
You are cordially invited to join us at the Gilboa Museum on November 7th from 4-6 pm for the opening reception of our GCCS art student exhibit. We look forward to seeing you there.

At Gilboa-Conesville Central School, the art department helmed by Michael Meli and Caleb Lococo provides students with access to a wide range of mediums and materials, including acrylic paint, colored pencil, digital photography, mixed media, and oil pastel. This wide-ranging exposure gives every student a chance to find the artistic avenue that they best excel in. The key to being a well-rounded artist is foundational knowledge across mediums, while specializing in that medium where some mixture of enjoyment, talent, and technical proficiency intersect.
In addition to the technical explorations across numerous mediums, students are also exposed to a wide-ranging set of artists that span many geographic locations and historical eras. This includes the Aboriginal Tribes of Australia, the Polynesian and Indigenous American Peoples, and Western artists such as Goerges Seurat and Edward Hopper. This gives students access to a group of voices and perspectives that they may not have interacted with otherwise. It also bolsters and contributes to their content knowledge in other core subject areas such as foreign languages, history, and the sciences.
No art program can succeed without enthusiastic participation from the student body. The artwork speaks for itself- GCCS is home to a vibrant group of growing artists who possess both great talent and willingness to grow and explore. This show would not exist without their efforts!
Mr. Meli and Mr. Lococo are grateful for the support of their Administrators, Students, and Families for all the contributions and encouragement that make this exhibition possible. Additional thanks to the Gilboa Museum for showcasing student artwork in this new communal space. We look forward to many more shows displaying the talent and expansive knowledge of the GCCS Student Body.
